SCRC

South Central Regional Council

The USGBC North Texas Chapter participates in the South Central Regional Council (SCRC) that was established in 2005 as part of an USGBC national regionalization process due to the rapid growth of chapters across the United States. At the time, chapters within the USGBC were organized into eight specific geographical regions to enable the chapters to work together more effectively and speak as a unified voice regarding regional issues.

The South Texas Regional Council Chapter is a collection of five regional USGBC affiliates located throughout the southern areas of the United States, which includes:

  • North Texas
  • Central Texas
  • Houston
  • Louisiana
  • Oklahoma

The purpose of the South Central Regional Council is to develop, foster and continually improve connections and networks that build the capacity to effectively transform local building industry and related markets. These connecting chapters share knowledge, provide mentoring, and serve as the voice for green building practices in Louisiana, Texas and Oklahoma. The South Central Regional Council is comprised of two representatives from each chapter of the region.
