The North Texas Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) seeks a Director of Development based in Dallas to work with the Chapter's Executive Director and Chapter leadership to expanding the USGBC North Texas Chapter's funding from multiple sources.

With many innovative outreach and education programs in planning along with the creation of the Green Building Resource Center, is poised to accomplish a number of milestones in the near future.  There will be exciting opportunities for individual membership, corporations, and private foundations to get more involved with the promoting and demonstrating sustainable building for North Texas and beyond.

USGBC NORTH TEXAS CHAPTER
DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT
The North Texas Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) seeks a Director of Development based in Dallas, Texas. The Director will be responsible for expanding the Chapter's funding from individual memberships, corporations, and foundations, as well as developing new sources of income from major fundraising activities and special events. This position reports to the Chapter’s Executive Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
On-going duties:
1. Fund Raising – Establish short- and long-term strategies for funding sources and enlist support from Chapter members and staff. Research public and private agencies, corporations, and foundations to identify potential sources of funding. Work with the Board of Directors and Program Staff to develop funding-related events and major projects. Organize individual donor campaigns and solicitation drives for pledges of ongoing support from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
2. Major Gift/Donor Support – Strategize and orchestrate methods of approach to institutional donors. Produces major donor, board and special category solicitations/support materials with the intent to retain or upgrade gifts when possible. Cultivate donors by producing specialized correspondences, preparing letters of acknowledgment, scheduling and attending in-person visits.
3. Planned Giving Program – Track progress of promised or pending donations. Fulfill requests, produce correspondences and encourage partial/early donations where appropriate.
4. Development & Public Relations – Develop and implement comprehensive marketing and public relations strategies with regard to fundraising. Supervise most development and public affairs matters, particularly the creation of various communications such as the annual report, fundraising PowerPoint presentations, corporate/donor relations, executive correspondences and speeches. Produce content related to fundraising for the Chapter's website.
5. Financial Records – Maintain accurate accounting of all income and its sources. Interface with the executive staff and Board of Directors to fulfill information requests and maintain reporting accuracy.
6. Database and Records Management – Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in maintaining records of contributors. Maintain security and quality control of donation records. Generate queries, reports, and any other collection data as needed. Manage any related vendors as needed.
7. Professional Development -- Dedicate on-going attention to personal professional development through trade organization networks.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, Journalism, or a related field.
• Minimum 5-years of direct non-profit/fundraising business development experience.
• Track record of achieving fundraising targets and/or a quota of over $1M in donations annually.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.
• Ability to develop and manage budgets and prepare financial reports.
• Good computer skills, experience with fundraising systems and databases preferred.
• Interest, enthusiasm, and affinity for fundraising and working with people.
